The conductor and répétiteur Taro Harada was born in Tokyo. After studying philosophy and aesthetics at Keio University, Harada studied orchestral conducting at Tokyo University of the Arts. Immediately after graduating, he went to Graz, Austria, where he studied musical theater accompaniment with Prof. Wolfgang Bozic, choir conducting with Prof. Johannes Prinz, orchestra conducting with Wolfgang Dörner and stage German with Dipl. Speech Scientist Kerstin Werner.

 

2015 Weimar & 2016 Heidelberg

 In 2015 he was engaged as a répétiteur in the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. On the recommendation of Damon Nestor Ploumis, the representative of this opera studio, he went to the Heidelberg Theater as a répétiteur in February 2016, where he played almost all rehearsals, including the KHP, for the productions of Der fliegende Holländer (R.Wagner), Kiss me Kate (C. Porter) played.

 

Won the 27th Gotoh Foundation Culture Prize 2017/2018

In April 2017 he won the 27th Culture Prize of the Goto Memorial Foundation at the New Opera Performer of the Year 2017 and was thus able to continue his studies at the University of Art in Graz until 2018.

 

Immling Festival 2019

For the 2019 season, Taro Harada is engaged as répétiteur & choir assistant at the Immling Festival, where he conducted the youth musical "Musical Shrek". He was also engaged for the productions "Turandot", "Don Giovanni", "Die Fledermaus" and the concerts with choir and soloists as répétiteur, choir assistant and keyboard in the orchestra.

Assistant at the New National Theater in Tokyo since 2020

Since November 2020 he has been engaged as a musical assistant at the New National Theater Tokyo, where he assisted various conductors in major productions.

Successful performance

With the support of the Gotoh Memorial Culture Award, he planned and directed the performance of E. Humperdink's opera "Hansel and Gretel" on September 19, 2021, which was a resounding success. This performance was awarded as a funded project by the Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunka cho) “ARTS for the future! “ 2021 selected.
